Pearl District Building Logo

Don't you love how you can live in a city for almost five years and still come across little pockets that you have never been before? That's what happened when Alison, the amazing overseer of the Pearl District Building reached out to me for a consultation.

Having lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma for about five years now, I had never heard of or been to the Pearl District. But after driving up to the building, I could see the amazing potential that this historical district holds for Tulsa.

The Pearl District Building is a wedding venue in Tulsa, and the venue itself is absolutely gorgeous, with it's speakeasy vibe brick walls, moody lighting, antique mirrors and iron lanterns, but the images that come out of this venue are even more spectacular. The Pearl has it's own unique personality, but provides a beautiful backdrop for any wedding or event.

What was so neat to learn about was the history of the Pearl. It had once been a chocolate factory. Store upfront and the factory portion behind a brick wall and after walking through the venue, you can totally see the layout. For a short time after that it was a vodka distillery and then it settled as a popular Tulsa wedding venue. What's cool is that the owner decided to leave some of the unqiue quirks and pieces that showed some of the history, which I think makes it even more richer.

The Pearl had never had a logo or brand before and the team was ready to build a brand that they could be proud of and share as they market and grow the Pearl.

Our goal with the branding was create something that was unique to the Pearl - timeless and elegant - and reflected the style inside.

Our key words were: Timeless, urban, elegant, creative, service, unique, speakeasy, eclectic.

With the inside style of the Pearl having so much personality, with it's brick walls, iron lanterns, antique mirrors, vintage ceiling tiles and furniture, we decided to bring a few of the elements out of those things to build the branding around.

The color palette, we wanted to have that speakeasy vibe, without being too grungy or urban, and still have an elegance to it. So we ended up with an emerald green, rust gold, maroon and cream.

For the logos, I created a custom font that is balanced by the frames and embellishments that came from the ceiling tiles and a vintage bar piece. The alternate logo brought in an illustration of the gorgeous iron lanterns that are the main highlight of one of the rooms in the Pearl, and then the submark brought it all together in a nice little stamp form.

So without further ado, here is the full branding suite for the Pearl District Building.

It was such a pleasure to work on such a fun brand and to work with such an amazing team at the Pearl. Be on the lookout for their website and social media refresh with their new branding, but for now, onto their stationery piece!
